Lisle Park District is seeking a full-time Athletic Field Specialist to prepare athletic fields for play. Requires the use of judgment to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
Prepares athletic fields for play including stripping, chalking, dragging and leveling fields. Will lay sod, spread seed, apply fertilizer and weed control. Will pump fields after rain.
Maintains irrigation systems and troubleshoots as needed.
Installs and maintains fencing around athletic fields.
Contacts school coaches to discuss playability of fields.
Maintains and inspects bleachers for safety.
Maintains inventory of athletic field maintenance items including paint, chalk, and repair parts.
Tracks field usage hours and material usage for park district reimbursement.
Assists with special event preparation, operation and clean-up as required.
Assists with snow and ice removal as required.
Performs duties of a Parks Specialist as required in the off season.
Trains and delegates tasks to assigned seasonal and part-time employees.
Qualifications: •Requires expertise typically acquired through completion of a high school program. •Minimum of 5 years related work experience including experience in athletic field maintenance and irrigation systems, landscaping, and grounds keeping. •Hands on experience with specialized field equipment, tractors, mowers, light and heavy trucks and a variety of hand and power tools. •Must possess a valid Illinois Driver's License. •Physical requirements include: good speaking, hearing and vision ability, excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry between 25 and 60 pounds frequently and over 60 pounds occasionally. •Required to pass pesticide exam within 6 months of beginning employment. State Pesticide Operator's License is preferred. •Will require working outdoors in all weather conditions. Will work with exposure to chemicals including fertilizers, weed killers and cleaning agents.
