Summary: Seeking a Childhood Enrichment Teacher to develop and implement curriculums for children ages 3-6 beginning September 11, 2017. Each class meets once per week, typically for 2 hours. Enrichment programming at West Ridge Center is designed to instill an early love of learning while fostering independence, creativity, and important classroom skills. Each class is taught by the lead teacher and supported by a teacher’s aide. Teacher’s typically implement multiple classes per week and help facilitate the lunch program.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include developing or adapting existing curriculums. Curriculums include art, science, socialization, reading and writing themes and must be presented in innovative, creative ways. Teachers are responsible for ordering supplies and prepping any activities prior to the start of class. Teachers are provided funds to purchase classroom materials. Candidates in this position will work closely with a team of teachers and aides as well as the recreation staff. This position requires frequent and professional communication with administrators and parents of participants. Diaper changing may also be required. Teachers must be able to create a safe, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment for children at varying stages of development.

Qualifications: Qualified candidates will possess 2-4 years previous early childhood classroom experience. Education in early childhood is preferred. Excellent communication skills and professionalism are required. Teachers must be available to substitute for their teammates on short notice. Reliability and dedication is an absolute must for successful candidates.

Classification: Part-Time (6-19hours per week)

Wage Range: $18.00-21.00/hr plus paid prep time for each class

Benefits: Not eligible for health insurance or pension; however, available benefits for this position include discounted programming at park district facilities.
