Northeast DuPage Special Recreation Association (NEDSRA) is a cooperative of eight park districts and three villages in northeast DuPage and west Cook Counties, Illinois. NEDSRA was formed in 1976 as a means of combining resources among the member agencies to provide recreation programs and services for individuals with disabilities. Today, NEDSRA serves approximately 3,500 distinct individuals annually—within a diverse cultural and socioeconomic service area—through roughly 600 programs and special events. NEDSRA's main objective is to meet the unique social and recreation needs of individuals with disabilities, so they may increase their enjoyment of life and reach their highest level of independence.
NEDSRA is looking for a qualified individual to fill the position of Business Manager. This position will serve as a member of the Management Team and Safety Team. This position is full time and salaried.
Job Summary: This position is responsible for supervision and evaluation of the agency registrar, part-time office staff and when necessary recruit, hire and train new staff and will serve as liaison to agency contractual employees including information technologist. They oversee financial functions including accounts payable/receivable, invoice procedures and internal controls; and serves as the administrator of the agency purchasing card. The Business Manager will prepare monthly financial statements for presentation to the Board of Trustees. This position will evaluate, monitor and when necessary, implement best practices for cash management as well as oversee investing practices and make recommendations. They will prepare all documentation for and are responsible for oversight of annual agency audit, oversee agency IT; initiating and maintaining best practices for electronics communication per agency policy. He/she will maintain agency asset tagging, tracking and disposal per policy using AssetMaxx system, prepare/oversee all government required reporting regarding payroll tax returns, W2s, 1099’s, and 990s for financial reporting, oversee RFP process for required purchases, per agency financial policy. The Business Manager plays an integral role in the preparation of agency annual budget, provides thorough research, analysis and recommendations for administrative operations of the agency, as well as, policies and procedures related to administrative operations, monitors all cash receipts for timely deposit and accurate posting, is responsible for agency’s records management and records retention procedures and for oversight of office equipment, including researching new and replacement equipment. The Business Manager will also oversee facility use and rental.
Education and/or Experience: The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, public finance, business, public administration or related field, and at least 5 years of successful experience preferable with government, park districts, special recreation associations or non-profits. CPA is desirable. Thorough knowledge of accounting, budgeting, reporting processes, computer applications including MS Office Suite, and laws/regulations regarding audit requirements and 501(c)(3) agencies. The Business Manager must have strong strategic, analytical and organizational skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven management skills; ability to handle multiple projects and processes simultaneously; and strong attention to detail.
