Position: Assistant Director
Agency: Leyden Township Department of Parks & Recreation
Compensation: $45,000 – $50,000 with generous benefit plan including health insurance, participation in IMRF, paid vacation
Regular Parks & Recreation hours of operation are Monday through Friday 6:00AM to 9:00PM Saturday 9:00AM to 3:00PM. Sunday and other times are as scheduled.
Qualifications: Candidate must be a strong leader with excellent communication and technological skills. Management experience with staff supervision is required (minimum of three (3) years’ is preferred).
Professional Certification(s) and Bachelor of Science degree in Parks and Recreation, Recreation Administration or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus. CPR/AED certified or obtained within one (1) year of employment.
Candidate must hold a valid driver’s license and pass a background check and drug test. Duties include, but are not limited to management of the Recreation Department staff, overall operations of existing programs (Special Events, Early Childhood, Athletics and Dance) and creation of new programs.
Assist in providing training and leadership for full-time, part-time and seasonal staff. Works with the Director of Special Events and Community Outreach in representing and marketing the District with outside organizations.
