Monitor, inspect, troubleshoot, adjust and repair all HVAC equipment including but not limited to: heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair equipment to maintain efficient operation.
Essential Job Functions • Performs facility maintenance work as necessary. Makes routine inspections and preventative maintenance repairs throughout Park District facilities. Inspects facilities for code and safety compliance. • Ability to troubleshoot, service and repair both commercial & residential HVAC equipment including(but not limited to) chillers, roof top units, residential split systems, mini-split systems, electric heat, heat pumps, boilers, chilled and hot water pumps, fan coil units, commercial refrigerators/freezers, ice makers and water coolers. • Ability to replace fans, belts, motors, gaskets, filters, lubricate parts, adjust and install switches, gauges, thermostats, valves, tubing, transformers, pressure regulators, controllers and other parts as needed. • Ability to operate various web based building management systems. • Assists with administrative tasks, such as ordering and purchasing supplies, preparing reports, monitoring and enforcing contracts. • Maintains an HVAC parts and tools inventory. • Advises on the selection and purchase of HVAC supplies and equipment. • Facilitates the service and repair of fire extinguishers and hood range suppression systems throughout the Park District. • Assists in the planning, promotion and administering of safety programs and inspections. • Performs the job safely and in compliance with district policies, procedures, work and safety rules. • Familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks.
Education and Experience • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in HVAC work. • Completion of EPA Refrigerant Recovery & Transition Certification. • Completion of certification program from recognized or accredited HVAC career training school. AND/OR • Completion of or a minimum of 2 years’ experience as journey level HVAC technician.
The above knowledge, skills and abilities may be demonstrated by education or formal training equivalent to a High School Degree plus four years’ experience in a related position. Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
