Description: Our District has an opening for Full-time Park Operations technician to assist in the physical maintenance of the district’s buildings and grounds.
Duties include general landscape maintenance; including operating heavy equipment, applying pesticides, making electrical repairs on outdooring lighting and timers, general park and facility maintenance using various tools and physical labor. Duties also involve contact with the general public and Park District staff, a pleasant demeanor and good judgment must be exercised in dealing with a broad variety of assignments. This position will be responsible for leading full and/or part time crew members in the completion work assigned. Position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 73.
Qualifications: Playground Safety Inspector certification or the ability to become certified within one year of employment plus a basic familiarity with playgrounds. Landscape maintenance experience is necessary. Must have a good understanding of the English language and be able to communicate well with patrons and staff. Selected candidate needs to be a minimum of 21 years of age and possess the ability to regularly lift objects up to 50 pounds. Due to the lifting requirement, selected individuals will be required to take a post-offer back assessment/lift test.
Education: Two or three years of occupationally specific training beyond high school or an Associate’s degree Availability: Five days per week, generally Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Due to the nature of this position it is sometimes necessary to amend work hours to include overtime, weekends, early mornings and late evenings.
