The Facility Maintenance Division Manager works under the direction of the Superintendent of Park Services. This position plans, administers, maintains, renovates, supervises, and oversees maintenance and construction of Park District facilities, buildings, park hardscape (courts, walks, paving), and equipment. Monitors and manages District assets and takes actions to minimize or eliminate undesirable conditions.
Essential Functions: *Supervises, trains, schedules and evaluates full-time and part-time personnel in a highly skilled and positive manner to achieve maximum productivity. *Effectively plans, directs and organizes the staff, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance of all facilities, including contractors. *Makes recommendations to the Superintendent of Park Services regarding options available for necessary repairs, complete with cost estimates as well as matters regarding personnel, equipment needs, and policies and procedures to improve overall maintenance operations. *Performs regular inspections. Ensures appropriate level of safety and cleanliness are maintained. Ensures that projects are completed in an effective, efficient manner while maintaining high quality performance. *Creates and manages budgets. Assists in long range planning including creation of cost estimates. Oversees procurement of a wide variety of parts and services. Processes invoices in a timely manner. *Prepares and initiates a detailed preventive maintenance program for all facility systems including but not limited to H.V.A.C, electrical, plumbing, life-safety systems, park hardscapes and park equipment. *Supervises and/or repairs heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, and equipment problems. *Safely inspects and operates vehicles, tools and equipment to perform maintenance tasks including high risk machines and tools which require strict safety precautions (saws, drills, testers, etc.)
Qualifications: *High School graduate or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Park Management or related field desired. *Five years of full time experience in related field required. *Formal training in all aspects of facility maintenance, custodial maintenance, plumbing, electrical, H.V.A.C., equipment desired. *Evidence of continuing education through trade schools and/or seminars and workshops directly related to the field. *Valid Illinois driver's license. *Speak, write, read the English language fluently. *Read construction drawings and create working drawings. *Use computer for creation and review of email and other documents, computerized maintenance management systems, computer control systems for HVAC, aquatics and other technical controls. *NRPA Certified Playground Inspector or the ability to obtain certification within one year of start date required.
