 $18.00 - $22.00 DOQ

Landscape Specialist 1 must be 18 years of age or older. Must have an Associate's Degree in Horticulture, Forestry, Biology or related field ( Bachelor's Degree preferred) or have at least 5 years related work experience. Applicant must also have a current Illinois Pesticide License or be able to obtain one with 6 months of hire. Must be able to perform all levels of landscape maintenance including : Lawn care, flower bed design/maintenance, athletic fields, irrigation systems, fertilizing/weed control and tree preservation. A strong background in natural areas/wetlands and experience with prescribed burns a plus. Ability to identify various tree, shrub, and native species is essential. Individual must be able to 50 lbs. and work outdoors in all weather conditions. Successful candidates should possess skilled knowledge of hand and power tools, be able to operate all Park District vehicles and equipment (i.e. backhoe, large production mowers, snow removal, tractors, trailers, etc.) Basic computer knowledge is required. Ability to read, write and communicate in English is a must. Must posses a valid class "C" IL driver's license upon hire and a class "A" license will be required within 6 months. Individual must pass a drug and / or alcohol screening and a health physical. Knowledge of Glen Ellyn Park District area preferred but not necessary.
