The Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA), located in Rolling Meadows, IL, is an extension of 17 Park Districts in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. NWSRA provides outstanding opportunities through recreation for children and adults with disabilities.
Under the direction of the Superintendent of Communications & IT, the Graphic Communications Coordinator is responsible for the Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA) and Special Leisure Services Foundation (SLSF) marketing and communications materials, while working with the Executive Director, Department Heads, managers and staff on specific projects that also encompass public relations efforts including, but not limited to: crisis communications, public information, internal/external promotions and internal/external marketing.
Duties and Essential job functions: Enhance and maintain an identity (brand) for the Association and Foundation. Manage, plan, design, layout, write, edit, proofread and produce all NWSRA and SLSF print promotions, graphic materials and on-site displays. Write, create, and monitor all of the content on Association social media sites. Supervise/manage the entire production process for the seasonal program guides. Coordinate with outside contractors including photographers, printers, copier vendors and other vendors as needed. Assist with preparation of board summaries, monthly reports and special reports, as needed. Solicit bids on printing projects, copiers, printers and handle all printing/production related items. Coordinate copier and printer contracts, usage, maintenance, supply ordering including copier/printer paper and toner and training. Monitor use and maintenance of agency camera and oversee the photo approvals for publications.
Preferred Education, Experience and Qualifications: Employee must have a minimum of a BA/BS in Graphic Design, Public Relations, Marketing, Marketing Research, Integrated Marketing Communications, or related field, and three (3) years of progressively more responsible experience in marketing and communications. • Employee must have proven expertise in designing and editing brochures, publications, websites and marketing materials. • Employee must have a good understanding of multiple different types of software; such as, Word Press, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, Bridge and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). • Experience in implementing a comprehensive marketing plan preferred.
Employee must have a valid state driver's license. Employee must pass pre-employment drug test, physical and criminal background check.
