TITLE: Membership Coordinator  

SUPERVISOR: Wellness Manager  

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Graduate of a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation or Kinesiology, or closely related field; a minimum of (2) years of experience working in wellness/fitness center and/or fitness training or instruction, or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be accepted. Previous experience in customer service preferred.    

QUALIFICATIONS:          

Demonstrated knowledge and skill of customer service, wellness center memberships, and programs.

CPR, First Aid & AED certified

Must be able to train front line staff in the areas of customer service and sales.

Must possess highly effective interpersonal skills, problem solving abilities and advanced communication skills.

Must use sound judgment and be able to make decisions and to function effectively under stress and interruptions.

Must be able to read, write and speak in English.

Must have a valid IL driver’s license.

Must be 18 years or older.  

SUMMARY:            

The Membership Coordinator is responsible for selling new and maintaining existing memberships, training front line staff in the area of customer service and sales as well as following up with new members. This position requires an active and participative approach and an overall working knowledge of all aspects of Wellness operations, with an emphasis on membership retention. The Membership Coordinator is responsible for participating in and seeking opportunities for community outreach.  The Membership Coordinator is under the direct supervision of the Wellness Manager but is granted the opportunities for independent supervision in related areas of responsibility.                                    

HOURS:                    

The immediate Supervisor shall designate the normal workweek to properly perform the duties of the job. The emphasis of the position will require frequent evening and weekend hours. Approximately 15 – 20 hours per week. The Employee shall be considered to be on duty whenever a need exists for their services.                                    

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:          

Maintain communication link between Fitness Center members and guests and management.

Actively sell memberships to help meet sales goals. 

Responsible for contacting all new members; monitoring satisfaction with membership/facility and responding to concerns or questions they may have.

Answers phone calls and emails related to sales, memberships and events.

Provides excellent customer service and monitors guest feedback through the use of comment cards, surveys, emails and general comments relayed through front line staff.

Seek and participate in outreach opportunities.

Work with management to develop and implement programs that target new members, and retains current members.     

Conduct equipment organization.

Provide initial and ongoing training of Fitness Attendants in the areas of customer service, sales, and facility orientation.               

Researching current group fitness and programming trends, continually providing new programming ideas ensuring balanced offerings of programs for participants of all activity and interest levels.

Responsible for communicating accurate information to members, including fees, service amenities, hours of operation, fitness policies, and related program information.

Attends, contributes to and participates in staff meetings.                             

Solicits participant feedback and provides timely response to concerns, comments and questions as well as adjusts and improves programs as necessary in response to the participant feedback.

Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures and safety rules.

Supports & exhibits the established organizational values of respect, communication, integrity, innovation, recognition, continuous learning, fun, empowerment and people.

Ensures goals are being met within area of responsibility as well as being a productive team member to achieve department goals.

Develops a general knowledge of Park District programs to respond to specific questions or direct guests to the appropriate staff members.

Perform other duties or special projects as assigned
