JOB TITLE: Multimedia & Graphics Designer (FLSA exempt) R 6.18  

SUPERVISOR: Marketing & Communications Manager  

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Graphic Art Design or related field.  A minimum of 1-year experience with design software to include Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher), Google (Doc, Sheets, Sites), Adobe (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premier). Basic knowledge of HTML coding (imbedding text, images, video, tables, lists, and links.

Demonstrated knowledge of Social Media, including but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube.

Experience using email marketing with Constant Contact or other email marketing campaign software.

Background and/or related experience in photography, video and audio.

CPR/AED certification is required or training to be provided by the Park District.

A valid Illinois driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required.

Must be able to read, write and speak English.  

SUMMARY:

The Multimedia & Graphics Designer is responsible for designing and developing print and digital material for the promotion and marketing of Park District programs and activities.  Develop and manage social media accounts and strategy for the District. Create and develop quality photography and video content for District use. Also assists in the management of the District’s websites, and online registration site.

HOURS:

The normal workweek shall be designated by the Marketing and Communications Manager as necessary to properly perform the duties of the job. Typical work week will be 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. The employee shall be considered to be on duty whenever a need exists for their services. Working nights and weekends are often required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

-Communicate with the Marketing and Communications Manager on Park District matters. 

-Design, develop, and catalog all printed and digital graphic materials for the District using desktop and online based graphic design, video editing, and web development software. 

-Develop and manage social media accounts and strategy for the District.

-Assist in the management of the District websites, online registration site, social media, and business/facility/program listings, by adding quality images, videos, and promotional/ad designs.

-Assist in the design of three seasonal program guides, and program/event brochures with the collaboration of the Marketing and Communications team.    -Assist in maintaining the branding and image standards of the Park District via multimedia platforms (e.g. print, video, large format, e-mail marketing, logo use, program guides, brochures, giveaways, social media, etc).

-Create and develop quality photography and video content for future use.

-Provide support during special events and programs including photography, videography, and setting up marketing booth/table.

-Assist with all informational distributions for schools, parent packets, team packets and registrations.

-Under the supervision of the Marketing and Communications Manager, work with Park District staff to prepare and create Park District informational pieces.

-Assist the Marketing and Communications Manager with the creation Park District promotional presentations and displays.

-Work with Wheeling Park District sponsors and partners in creating/designing marketing pieces to fit with the marketing plans and goals within the community.

-Work with Park District approved printers to execute development of print projects.

-Performs the job safely and in compliance with District policies, procedures, work and safety rules, and the employee handbook.

-Supports and exhibits the organizational values of respect, communication, integrity, innovation, recognition and appreciation, continuous learning, fun, empowerment and people.   MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

-Attend Park District meetings as necessary.

-Attends conferences and workshops to promote knowledge in related areas of responsibility.

-Performs other duties as assigned.

RATE OF PAY: $47,960 - $59,932 DOQ
