The City of Lake Forest is looking for qualified, individuals to serve as Lifeguards during the Forest Park Beach 2022 season.
Facility Hours of Operation are 9:00am-7:00pm, daily. Lifeguards will be staffed Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend.

Examples of Duties
Ensures the safety of beach patrons
Prevents injuries and minimizing hazardous situations
Enforces all facility policies, rules and regulations
Acts in any emergency situation and staying with victim until help arrives
Responds to patron concerns and inquiries in a professional manner
Documents incidents/injuries
Records and maintains detailed reports;
Facility cleanliness
Safety inspections

Working on your degree in Recreation and/or Graphic Design? Join the Village of Orland Park’s award winning Recreation department this summer as an Intern and gain valuable experience. You will have an opportunity to work on achieving the goals and objectives of our Recreation Department as well as your degree program for a well-rounded intern experience.
Key Responsibilities
As a Recreation Intern you will provide general support to the day-to-day functions of the department. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to assisting management and staff in the planning, organizing, implementation, research and the supervision of specific assigned recreation programming activities or functions and special events. This positon also maintains good relationships with community and interest groups, and agencies serving the area.
In addition, this position will also provide support to our graphic design team. Design support duties include assisting in production and layout using InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Print production, fulfillment, research analysis, reporting, leading, filing, processing media requests, photographing events and other duties as needed.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
To be considered for this position you should be working on a bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Graphic Design or related field. Prior field work or part-time experience in the areas of recreation, graphic design or related area is preferred. Strong computer skills including experience with InDesign and Microsoft Office are required. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, along with strict attention to detail are also needed. A high level of creativity is necessary.
The Assistant Manager works to provide for the optimal experience for preserve guests. Supervises employees engaged in the retail, operational, and event programming functions of the Preserves’ seasonal operations. Ensures efficient fee collections, cash control, and daily cash-out procedures for all aspects of the operation, and makes daily cash drops when required. Aids in the safety of patrons by enforcing facility rules and safety procedures. Facilitates the flow of information between preserve administration and employees. Inspects grounds, buildings and equipment to ensure safe operations, reporting any deficiencies to appropriate staff. May drive motorized vehicle to travel to different locations, and may operate support watercraft. Performs lifting tasks up to 50 pounds and other tasks that may require walking, bending, stooping, standing, kneeling, climbing, reaching and sitting.
EXPERIENCE One year supervisory experience. Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with staff, customers and the general public. Must possess good problem solving ability and good judgment. Knowledge relating to retail functions, including cash control and inventory control. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, setting priorities and producing desired results. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

General Responsibility: Supervise camp participants at a specific camp. Plan, lead and implement recreation activities for summer day campers while adhering to all NISRA policies.
Time: This is a summer only position, functioning during summer day camp session and two weeks prior. Hours are typically from 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (Except for half day camps which may be held from 12:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.), some evening or morning meetings may be required. Summer Day Camp Dates are Monday, June 13- Thursday, July 28, 2022 (No Camp July 4). Orientation will begin the week of June 1, 2022.
*$150.00 hiring bonus contingent on staff attendance

The Village of Hawthorn Woods Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a summer Parks & Recreation Intern. The Recreation Intern is a part-time seasonal position that reports to the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation. The Recreation Intern will assist with the planning and coordination of summer camps and special events such as Fourth of July festivities, Concerts in the Park and Movies in the Park. They will also assist in areas including aquatics and registration.
The Parks & Recreation Intern will be exposed to various areas of recreation management that will be beneficial to their future career as a Park & Recreation professional. The Parks & Recreation Intern will work closely with both the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation and the Director of Parks and Recreation to expand their understanding of the field.
QUALIFICATIONS: CPR/First Aid certification is a plus. Applicants will be required to successfully pass a background check and drug test prior to employment. Must have a high school diploma. Must be a student in good academic standing and currently enrolled in a college undergraduate program, or be a recent graduate. Preference is given to students majoring in the field of Parks & Recreation Administration or related field. The ideal candidate will be comfortable public speaking, interacting will community members, instructing staff, and leading activities. Must work well and communicate with people of all ages, especially children.
