The Itasca Park District is looking for a positive, fun, driven candidate that wants to expand and grow their experience into the Illinois Park District Park Maintenance Field! Come join our Team at the Itasca Park District that provides a great work environment, team atmosphere and daily possibility of working outdoors!

Hours: 7:30am-3:30pm Monday thru Friday/ Hourly Rate: $15/hour /Immediate Supervisor: Superintendent of Buildings & Parks

Position Focus:

The Parks Laborer is responsible for the daily maintenance, dragging ballfields, landscaping and repair of the District’s Park System. General work hours are a minimum of 40 hours a week. General work hours take place Monday through Friday, with some evening and weekend hours due to the nature of special events, meetings and under the direction of the Superintendent of Buildings & Parks.

The person will be required to be able to lift and turn and carry 50 pounds, and placing this load on shelves at chest height so as to fulfill this requirement. This person must be able to stand and/or sit for long stretches of time and be able to operate all Park District Trucks and tractors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Communicate with Superintendent of Buildings & Parks on issues and activities related to the park systems in an effort to insure effective operations of the District.

2. Maintain the turf of park district lawns; including but not limited to mowing, dragging ball fields, seeding, weed control and trash removal.

3. Landscaping of park district properties. This includes, but is not limited to soil grading and preparation, tree plantings, tree trimming, tree watering, mulching and flower bed maintenance.

Qualifications:

Applicant must be 18 years or older. The candidate must possess a valid class D driver’s license. And a Great Attitude to work outdoors and have fun!
