Under the general direction of the Superintendent of Parks and Planning, the Assistant Superintendent of Parks

and Planning is responsible for managing the day to day operation of the Parks and Planning Department.

Responsibilities include the maintenance of 47 park sites consisting of 439.6 acres of owned land and 295.6 acres

of leased land, three outdoor swimming pools, athletic fields, and other District assets. This position also assists in the maintenance of fifteen buildings, management of construction projects, equipment purchases, and development of

the department’s capital repair and replacement plan

Current management areas within department include trades, parks, horticulture and fleet divisions.

The ideal candidate will possess:

BA/BS in Park Management, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Turf Management, or a closely related field from

an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

•Minimum ten (10) years of progressive experience in park maintenance, facility maintenance, or any combination of

training and experience which provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills.

•CPRP, CPSI, and Pesticide Applicator License preferred.

•CPO desirable.
