The Recreation Maintenance Technician works under the direction of the Facility Services Manager. Responsibilities include, but not limited to basic custodial and maintenance duties, daily/monthly/annual projects for the Rakow Center and all pools.

Completes routine preventive maintenance and inspections on all facility equipment and systems while being project oriented. Fulfills work requests and completes daily/monthly/yearly building projects in a timely and cost efficient manner.

Contributes information regarding budget preparation for annual capital needs/budget assessment for all aquatics and Rakow Center. Provides basic custodial needs during shift such as basic housekeeping and deliveries as necessary. Utilizes established practices (such as computer or other programs) to determine daily cleaning needs, program set up and take downs of areas and equipment. Communicates the needs to various staff members as needed. Administers daily scheduled pool checks as required by the state, thru the calendar year and additionally during summer months. Checks the following and makes adjustments as necessary: Water Balance, Temperature Levels, Chemical Mixtures, Backwashing.

High School Diploma or equivalent, with college preferred. 2-3 years’ experience with commercial pools, whirlpool and water treatment or water chemistry. Certification as a pool operator, or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days. Basic knowledge of equipment repair and maintenance; working knowledge of basic electricity, plumbing and carpentry. Some understanding of operations in heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems. Knowledge of applicable biding codes of municipalities required. Valid Illinois Driver’s License.

Year round full-time position, 40 hours per week. Work hours are established 5:30am - 2:00pm. Tuesday thru Friday, and 7:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday, but may include additional hours during the summer.
