The Westmont Park District located in Westmont, IL has an opening for a Horticulturist position. The District serves approximately 25,000 residents with over 155 acres of parks, a 9 hole golf course, fitness center and offers over 1,000 programs each year.

####RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Under the supervision of the Parks Foreman, the Horticulturist is responsible for the planning and installation of all landscaping, annual flowers, tree planting, memorial programs and general maintenance of the parks. The horticulturist will also be responsible for general tree trimming, pruning of shrubs and mulching in addition to other general park maintenance duties within the parks maintenance department. Ballfield maintenance, special events and snow removal is also included in the job description. Hours: Generally, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (1/2-hour lunch), Monday through Friday. Some weekend, holiday, and evening work will be required (varies with the season).

####QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum two-year associates degree in horticulture, landscape design or other related field preferred. Valid Illinois Driver’s License required along with own source of reliable transportation. Possess the ability to speak in public, with good written and verbal communication skills.

####EXPERIENCE:

Background in design, landscape installation and maintenance is a must.

####COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The hiring salary range is $40,000 - $45,000. Starting salary is DOQ. The District offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, vision insurance and membership in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF). The District benefits package also includes paid vacation, holidays, sick leave and potential for annual merit increases. Membership to District Fitness Center included. This is an at-will position.
