Manages and directs all phases of the Sports Arena Fitness Studio & Leisure Center, including concession operations. Responsible for the immediate supervision of fitness center employees. Cooperation with the recreation staff regarding programs and special events is a necessity. Position requires some evenings, weekends, and holiday hours.
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or Health Management, Business Administration, or related field and (3) years of supervisory experience, or a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform duties.
Hires, supervises, coordinates, trains, and evaluates staff in the development and implementation of fitness & recreation programs.
Effectively communicates, both verbally and in writing, with the public & staff.
Researches and initiates new fitness and recreational programs, activities, and events.
Oversees the Sports Arena Fitness Studio memberships, classes, leagues, and rentals.
Using excellent customer service skills establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public.
Maintains and compiles records and statistics for all personnel, programs, and activities.
Works collaboratively to increase health and wellness offerings within the community.
Coordinates staffing and logistics for room rentals at the Leisure Center & Shiloh Center.
Works with Community Relations Manager to develop and implement a marketing plan.
Researches and recommends equipment and supply purchases. Involvement includes preparing purchase orders and check requests, submitting accounts payable, and creating and maintaining inventory systems.
Promotes services and recruits businesses, clubs and individuals to use facilities.
Prepares operational reports and analyzes trends to maximize revenue and usage.
Analyzes needs and plans short and long range goals.
Determines fiscal requirements and prepares budgetary recommendations.
Monitors appropriate controls for cash management and works with Supt. of Administrative Services on financial procedures.
Prepares and/or approves all required reports; cash sheets, programming & financial, accident/incident reports.
Attends staff meetings as directed.
Participates in Park District safety program to ensure that work performed & services provided are implemented in a safe manner.
Serve on various committees, as required and assigned.
