TITLE: Golf Operations Assistant Manager 


Graduate of a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education with a Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business, recreation or closely related field.

Minimum of three (3) years full-time experience as Head Golf Professional or Assistant Golf Operations Manager. 

Background with heavy emphasis on business management aspects of golf operations is necessary.

Specific knowledge of operational aspects of point-of-sale, tee time reservations and knowledge of special events/tournaments operations is required.

Valid IL Driver's License

Highly effectively interpersonal skills, problem solving abilities and advanced communication skills are required.  Must be organized, detail-oriented, flexible and able to prioritize.

F&B experience a plus.

Pursuit of Class A membership of the PGA of America required.


Assists with the day-to-day business activities of the golf operations. This position requires an active and participative management approach and an overall working knowledge of all aspects of golf operations.  The successful implementation of this knowledge will be reflected in the effective fulfillment of the “golf experience”.  The golf experience is defined here as the overall perception by the guest of the golf facility – its services, style, status, presentation and value. Provides quality private lessons and group clinics, including golf instruction for beginners who are interested in taking up golf as a hobby. Promotes Chevy Chase Country Club as the future home course for graduates of the golf classes.


Assists with operation of the golf shop and its guest service components in accordance with the approved annual business plan and budget(s) for the golf operation.

Manages, through direct supervision, the inventory of golf tee times to the highest and best use of its potential, as described in the annual business plan.

Ensures golf cart fleet is kept in good repair both mechanically and in appearance.

Ensures the golf shop is maintained in accordance with agency policies and procedures.

Assists with the Food and Beverage operation to assist and implement various programs that overlap the Golf Operations.

Assists with hiring and training of the Gable Bar and Grill staff.

Assists with coordinating all aspects of golf events. This includes the sales, planning, and execution of events.

Interacts with, and actively supports, the Wheeling Park District to promote community activities.

Conducts promotional clinics and lessons.

Oversees instructional programs – both internal and external. 

Performs the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies, procedures, work and safety rules.

Performs special projects or other duties as assigned.  

COMPENSATION: $50,000 to $60,000 annually.
