Recreation Supervisor – Preschool, Youth & Teen

Description: Under the direction of the Deputy Director, the Recreation Supervisor is responsible for creating, planning, implementing, supervising and evaluating recreation programs. The majority of programming will be done in the area of preschool, youth and teen programs, camps, parties, BTPD Preschool, Before and After School, BTPD Summer Camps and other assigned programs.

Responsibilities: The Recreation Supervisor must have the ability to develop new programs, improve upon existing programs, and build relationships with parents, teachers, staff, and program participants. Responsibilities include overseeing BTPD Preschool, BTPD Before and After School, BTPD Summer Camp, general preschool, youth and teen programs and camps. Recreation Supervisor will also hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate part-time Site Supervisors, Preschool Teachers, Aides and Counselors. This position will participate in determining department budgets; including revenue projections, staffing and other material resource requirements. Position is also responsible for reporting daily attendance levels and monitoring department expenditures.

Qualifications: Seeking a self-motivated professional with strong leadership skills, excellent customer service knowledge, strong communication skills, and a strategic thinker. Passion for producing quality programs is a must, as well as thinking outside the box when developing or evaluating current programs. Experience in supervising, scheduling, and motivating a large number of part-time staff is preferred. Employs sound time-management and delegation skills. Holds staff accountable for producing quality work. This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Administration, Leisure Services Administration, Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field. Professional Certification through the Illinois Parks & Recreation Certification Board is desirable. Previous experience in related area is desirable, but not required.
