JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Specialist is responsible for benefits processing, payroll support and employee wellness programs along with providing general HR assistance and support. Examples of duties include: Benefits orientation, enrollment, and administration for 100+ benefitted employees. Coordination and enrollment of internal benefits for 300+ eligible employees, HR data management, tracking and reporting. ACA coordination and tracking. Payment of insurance invoices, COBRA invoices, and other billing. HR document creation and management. FMLA administration. Employee recognition (flowers, plants, service anniversaries). Leads wellness team, plans initiatives, and annual wellness fair. Personnel file & benefit file management through data management systems. Oversees and maintains paid time off balances for part time and full time employees. Posting job vacancies, scheduling and performing interviews/screenings, conducting exit interviews. Unemployment claims. Employment verifications. Updating organizational charts, phone lists. Providing coverage for other clerical staff in the building, reception.
QUALIFICATIONS: The best applicants will have a Bachelor’s Degree. At least 3 years of HR or related experience highly desirable and SHRM-CP or PHR preferred. Strong organizational skills, exceptional computer skills, a high level of critical thinking, above average communication skills including active listening skills, and a friendly demeanor a must. High degree of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality essential. Valid Illinois driver’s license required.
SCHEDULING & PAY: This is a full time non-exempt (hourly) position. Hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5pm. Target hiring range: $24.04 / hour - $28.85 / hour (which equates to $50,000 - $60,000 / year).
