Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA), a two time National Gold Medal Winner and leader in the field of special recreation, is seeking applicants for an Adult Day Program Assistant Manager position. Our Rec & Roll Program is a community based recreation post-transition adult day program that emphasizes leisure independence, social interaction, community outings and service projects. Staff utilize recreational activities to help adults with disabilities develop and enhance their quality of life. The daily schedule can include animal therapy, volunteer projects, gardening, field trips, fitness, swimming, bowling, outdoor recreation, art therapy, crafts and games.
The ideal applicant is someone who is people oriented with strong interpersonal skills to create a team atmosphere and can mentor and develop their staff professionally to improve the overall quality of the program for our participants. They will act as the initial liaison for all new participants and families to the Rec and Roll program. The Adult Day Program Assistant Manager works collaboratively with another assistant manager to run the Rec & Roll Adult Day Program and administer additional agency programs.
Additionally they should be a self starter, able to demonstrate initiative, organized, big picture thinker, team player and collaborate well with others.
Responsibilities: Oversee the Rec & Roll program daily plans, staff, and participants. Assist in interviewing, mentoring and supervising day program staff. Create and administer training specific to the rec & roll staff Manage day program staff schedules, time off and working program when needed Coordinate program partnerships Intake of new families, determine placement and aid in registration process Manage program budget & reporting Coordinate and manage Lekotek Therapeutic Play Program site Plan and administer other various agency programs including Kiwanis Aktion Club.
This individual will be expected to create a culture of accountability, problem solving, making decisions for the good of the organization, working as a team, and embracing and committing to the agency’s mission, vision and core values.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a closely related field from an accredited college or university. A minimum of four-year experience in therapeutic recreation setting preferred. Experience supervising part time staff preferred. Knowledge of the recreational needs of persons with a disability without exclusion. Must demonstrate enthusiasm, creativity and flexibility. Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required. Certification or ability to work towards obtaining certification as a Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP or CTRS). Certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid desired. Valid Illinois Driver’s License with acceptable driving record. Pre-Employment physical and drug test required
