The Special Recreation Supervisor-Horizons is responsible for the creation, implementing, coordinating and evaluating for New Horizon Adult Day Program, Club Horizon Program, Camp Horizon Program and any other programs as assigned.
Applicants must be positive, organized, have an excellent work ethic and the ability to work effectively with special populations, parents, supervisors, staff and other community contacts.
• Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation or closely related field from an accredited college or university required. • A minimum of 3 years of direct experience with special populations, program planning and behavior management. • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred. • Or, any equivalent combination of education, experience and training. • Valid Illinois driver’s license & good driving record required. • Successful criminal background check. • Must be at least 21 years of age. • Create, plan, implement and coordinate our New Horizon Adult Day Program, Club Horizon Program and Camp Horizon Program. • Recruit, select, train, supervise & evaluate staff and volunteers. • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs and submit annual recommendations for fee and program changes. • Review and prepare costs for the annual budget. Oversee the expenditure and accounting of funds within area of responsibility. • Ability to work effectively with the participants, parents, supervisors, staff and other community contracts. • Maintain accurate records of participation figures and supplies/equipment. • Medic First Aid/CPR/AED Certification (or equivalent) is required within 30 days of hire date. If you are not already certified, training will be provided.
This is a salaried, exempt position that reports to Special Recreation Manager. The starting salary range is $41,600 - $52,000 based on experience. This position also includes an excellent benefit package.
