The Facilities Park Specialist III performs duties under the direct supervision of the Facility and Construction Supervisor and the overall management of the Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent of Parks. General responsibilities include, but are not limited to performing highly skilled task related to the planning, repair, construction and maintenance of building and park facilities. This position is educated, trained and skilled in one of the following trades HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and Construction. This is an at-will position.
Repairs and performs routine maintenance of doors, windows, locks, flooring, roofs, minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry. Installs and repairs recreation equipment; fences, gates and signs.
Paints Park District property which includes but not limited to: picnic tables, park benches, trash containers, interior and exterior wall and building surfaces; applies sealer to courts as required.
Builds, repairs and performs maintenance on the following depending on skill level: *Electrical systems, including low voltage communication, lighting, distribution wiring *Plumbing systems and components *HVAC system and components *Building components, such as windows, doors, stairways, flooring, roofing
Performs project management by completing the followiing:* *Researches and procures supplies and materials, creating a cost estimate for various projects. *Leads and instructs crew, which may include full time, part time, and seasonal staff. *Evaluates, plans, prioritizes and directs tasks simultaneously to complete project.
Completes inspections, reports and records.
Work Environment and Location
The primary office location is located at the Park Services Office, however the position is responsible for all areas located within the radius of Dundee Township Park District. The general work environment is primarily outdoors with exposure to rapid and wide temperature variations. Exposure to extreme heat, cold, snow and rain for lengthy periods of time. The position has some indoor influences. The noise level in the work environment is usually high when outdoors and/if working with equipment, but can be normal when indoors. The position requires heavy lifting, walking and standing. Exposure to various dirt, fumes and noise, caustic chemicals, odors and vibrations can occur. Works in a fast paced environment, may be required to work in confined and/or narrow spaces. Parking for position may be up to one to two blocks from work area.
This is a full time non-exempt year round position, normally 40 hours per week. Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Weekend or holiday work may be required as well as irregular hours. Weekend or holiday hours may be required as well as extended hours as needed. A set schedule may be available.
