Jewish Council for Youth Services (JCYS) offers educational, recreational and leadership experiences throughout the year at our family centers, multiple summer camps and specialty programs. The Director of Big City Day Camp coordinates and oversees the day-to-operations including staff supervision, budget management, and planning. The Director is responsible for training, supporting and scheduling staff, while monitoring camper happiness and well-being. For children who thrive on adventure, Big City Day Camp offers a summer full of discovery and exploration. We take advantage of everything Chicago has to offer, from water parks to canoe trips to cooking classes – and of course, plenty of trips to the beach for sandcastles and splashing around.
We are looking for a Camper Director that will provide a fun, safe and memorable experience to our camp participants by planning, preparing and implementing the daily activities for our Big City Day Camp.
The Big City Day Camp Director operates with a high degree of autonomy under the supervision of the Director of Chicago Operations. The Big City Day Camp Director is responsible for development, promotion and management of Big City Day Camp (BCDC.) They will provide leadership, direction and supervision to BCDC program staff.
This is an immediate opening for the right candidate to begin preparing for the upcoming summer camp session.
Position Responsibilities: • Responsible for development, implementation and supervision of programming for BCDC Programs • Responsible for planning, coordination and on–site supervision of field trips • Recruits hires and trains Program staff; organize and run staff training • Supervises and evaluates Program staff • Establishes and maintains professional relationship with principals and others that may act as recruiting partners for campers • Develop routines, schedules, and procedures for Day Camp operation • Informs Director of Chicago Operations of concerns, complaints, accidents and incidents • Maintains records such as parent sing-in report, staff time sheets, program calendars, rosters, waivers, permission slips and parent communication • Purchases and maintains program supplies • Prepares timesheets for payroll • Monitor safety and all procedures as they pertain to the complete supervision of all campers and staff • Maintains all aspects of risk management and safety policies • Support marketing programs to potential schools and clients • Recruit participants for summer camp • Develop Summer camp program including field trips, daily and special activities • Help provide an atmosphere for developing good morale and well-being among the BCDC family.
