The City of Middleton (Wisconsin) is seeking a high-energy, enthusiastic and seasoned Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation to manage lead and develop the City's many aquatics, recreation, athletic and youth outreach programs. Successful applicants will have a demonstrated background in aquatics, including recreational pool operations and swimming instruction, and recreation programming across the spectrum of athletic and community enrichment programs. They will also have a track record of experience in people management and supervision of employees of all ages.

The Assistant Director of Park & Recreation - Recreation, under the general direction of the Director of Parks & Recreation, performs administrative, supervisory and professional work in the planning, development and operation of a comprehensive public recreation program for the community including cultural, athletic, social and human service programs, events & activities. The Assistant Director is responsible for overseeing all programs and operations, as well as administrative responsibilities. He/she frequently determines their own practices and procedures in varied work situations, and is expected to use independent judgment when appropriate.

The Assistant Director supervises the Recreation Supervisor, Office Manager, Youth Center Director, Aquatic Manager, seasonal office staff and interns, and respective seasonal staff; providing routine review of their work. The Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation - Recreation has frequent interaction with departmental seasonal staff, elected officials, other city staff and the general public.
