JOB SUMMARY The Glenview Park District, a nationally recognized and award-winning park district located in Glenview, IL, has distinguished itself as one of the premier park and recreation organizations in the country. Serving 56,000 residents, the district has state-of-the-art facilities including a 168,000 square foot Park Center complete with fitness and aquatic facilities, an 18-hole golf course and club house, a working historical farm, a beautiful and historic nature preserve, an ice center, a tennis facility and much more. The park district is well known for its public engagement, civic involvement and progressive management culture. Employing a loyal, well tenured full-time staff of more than 100 and a seasonal staff of more than 1,000, the GPD also benefits from supplemental support with approximately 800 dedicated volunteers. The park district not only operates 26 park and recreational facilities, but also produces and promotes 60 events and hundreds of programs every year. The district entertains, educates and serves over 1.7 million visitors each year. In 2016, the district’s Manager of Marketing and Communications worked with a consulting firm to conduct a thorough assessment of the district’s assets and develop insights and recommendations to support a comprehensive, centralized sponsorship program. To guide the development of this new program, the team analyzed current information, conducted interviews, facilitated brainstorm sessions and studied the local and national sponsorship landscape. The team then worked to launch the new program in 2017, provide template sales materials and secured the first few major partners, establishing a strong framework and reputation for the program. The Partnership Manager is a new full time position that will be responsible for managing the Glenview Park District’s sponsorship program: soliciting, negotiating and managing execution of all major corporate partnerships, and maximizing sponsorship revenue. The Partnership Manager will work with the Manager of Marketing and Communications, the marketing team and various programming staff. The Partnership Manager has the authority to carry out the job requirements and responsibilities and is accountable to the Manager of Marketing and Communications.
Duties Include: Continue work to successfully launch and implement new sponsorship program. Work to evaluate, refine and improve sponsorship strategies and further develop the overall sponsorship program. Meet with appropriate staff as needed to discuss ways to maximize all partnerships, and review status and leveraging possibilities of current relationships. Develop and implement overall sponsorship sales strategy. Identify and continually update prospect list. Conduct ongoing value assessment for event proposals and partnership packages. Arrange meetings with interested sponsor prospects. Tailor sponsorship sales materials and promotional programs to targeted categories and companies. Prepare all sponsor sales materials including proposals, contracts, and promotional agreements. Negotiate sponsorships and review all deals. Secure approval for any departures from pre-approved rights and benefits. Create sponsorship activation timetables well in advance of scheduled events. Manage sponsor expectations: o Monitor graphic standards for logo usage, promotional restrictions and sponsor recognition program to ensure fees paid are proportionate to benefits delivered. o Service sponsors and fulfill contracts. o Review and approve final sponsor identified materials, including advertisements, new releases, promotional and program related materials. o Meet with marketing, programming and front line staff to secure benefits that are incorporated into sponsorship packages. Provide sponsors a measurement of their return on investment. Prepare sponsorship recaps for all major partners. Greet and cultivate sponsors at sponsored events. Lead cross-departmental sponsorship task force to engage staff in brainstorming, collaboration and development of participating level sponsors and solicit feedback and input for major partnership strategies and execution. Participate as a member of the community-led July 4 planning committee, ensuring seamless execution of participating level sponsorship activation. Collaborate with all partner charitable organizations (Glenview Park Foundation, Friends of Wagner Farm and Glenview Heritage Association) regarding park district sponsorship opportunities, solicitation and negotiation. Responsible for management of sponsorship revenue accounts within the district budget. Work with internal staff and leadership team to implement administrative functions as necessary, including invoicing, fund allocations, policy updates, etc. All other responsibilities and tasks as assigned by the Manager of Marketing and Communications. QUALIFICATIONS The best applicants will have a degree in marketing, sales, advertisement, business development or a related field of study. Five years or more of experience with partnership management and sponsorship sales, preferably with focus on multi-year agreements and high-value partnerships. Advanced knowledge & experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and budget management best practices. Experience with Adobe Suite and understanding of design best practices a plus. Highly effective at managing multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Exceptional communication, organization & time-management skills. Proven ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization, including senior management. SALARY Target hiring salary range is $58,000-$65,000 DOQ, plus incentive pay/commission based on ability to meet goals.
