Under the supervision of the Superintendent of Parks, position is responsible for preventive maintenance, cleaning, and repairs to equipment, fixtures, furnishings and structures at all park district buildings. Qualified individual will coordinate and manage contracted maintenance, repairs and construction within the district's buildings, administer the work order system for buildings, plan and schedule daily, weekly, and seasonal work schedules for staff, maintain a system of records of building inspections and repairs, requisition necessary supplies, equipment or services to adhere to a satisfactory work schedule, prepare annual budget for building/pool maintenance and capital improvements, hire, train, supervise and evaluate assigned staff, oversee maintenance and repairs, coordinate major building and pool maintenance functions, conduct in-service training programs, conduct inspections of buildings interior and exterior, keep Superintendent of Parks adequately informed. Other duties may include being a liaison for staff and management on various issues and in cases where unusual hours of work are required and are anticipated, supervisor is expected to act accordingly and report to the Superintendent of Parks.
Environmental: Individual will be exposed to all weather conditions, chemicals and exhaust fumes. Personal protective equipment will be provided for such conditions.
Hours: This position will generally work weekdays approximately from 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. Occasional work will be required outside normal business hours. Supervisor will be required to be available and to respond to emergencies as they arise.
Knowledge/Skills: Should possess knowledge and skills necessary to direct and manage a comprehensive building maintenance and repair plan, pool filtration and water chemistry. Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Experience in all phases of building and swimming pool work. Ability to read blue prints and specs. Must have clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
Education: High School diploma; AA Degree in HVAC/refrigeration systems; Bachelors Degree preferred. Must have valid IL driver's license. Must have a least 5 years' working experience in some or all of: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pool maintenance, and safety. Must have a minimum 5 years' supervisory experience. Certified Pool Operator certification required (or ability to acquire within six months of hire).
