The Village of South Elgin, IL is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Communications Specialist in the Administration Department. Under the direction of the Village Administrator, the Communications Specialist will help develop and implement a multimedia communication program designed to inform and engage Village citizenry. This position will serve as the main communication staff for the Village providing website management, social media engagement, program marketing and citizen engagement.
Qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Marketing, Journalism or related field, two years of workplace experience, or a combination of the two. Successful candidates will have extensive experience writing and communicating to a large public audience; have excellent computer skills; and have at least a working knowledge of Adobe software’s Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
Normal work hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. However, candidates must be able to work other hours to cover special events, night meetings, and other Village activities. The Village offers an excellent compensation and benefit package with a starting salary of $58,187.
