Qualifications:  High school graduate or equivalent required with degree, or some college coursework preferred. Must have 5 years of grounds maintenance experience, two years supervising others. An Illinois Pesticide Applicator’s License pertaining to turf management is required. Proficient math and mechanical aptitude required. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word with the aptitude to learn and utilize other systems. Must have effective communication skills with good organizational and time management skills. Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects. Must be in good physical condition to accomplish manual labor, strenuous at times, in all types of weather conditions including extreme heat and humidity and cold. 
 
Duties:Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Park Operations, the Park Grounds Supervisor oversees grounds maintenance operations, including ornamental maintenance, repairs and renovations directly related to their respective locations and assists the district when needed. This position will coordinate all duties associated with grounds and, in a lesser capacity, facility maintenance. The Park Grounds Supervisor will supervise and organize full-time and part-time personnel including making all staffing recommendations for their assigned location. Will utilize the computer daily to perform a variety of tasks including but not limited to; budgeting, timekeeping, work orders, personnel and project management and producing various reports. Additionally, maintains and monitors facility budget, coordinates the management of contractors, conducts snow removal, maintains assigned equipment, and makes recommendations for purchasing maintenance supplies and equipment.  The Park Grounds Supervisor is considered a ‘Working Supervisor’ and will regularly perform manual maintenance tasks on a daily basis.

JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, within a heated and air conditioned facility, performs skilled mechanical work in the repair and maintenance of Village owned vehicles and other equipment. Diagnoses mechanical and electrical malfunctions and defects for repair. Tunes engines and performs diversified preventive maintenance following established guidelines

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Diagnoses mechanical and/or electrical malfunctions and defects by operating diagnostic testing equipment including manufacturers software, aftermarket software, DVOM, gauges, and hand tools. Road tests vehicles to locate operational problems and check repair and maintenance before returning to service. Performs both mechanical and electrical repairs to gasoline, diesel, and hydraulic powered vehicles and equipment including squad cars, fire equipment, Village staff cars, trucks, construction equipment, backhoe, end loader, dump trucks, snow plows, salt spreaders, and liquid systems. Obtains or develops cost estimates for equipment replacement or repair. Tunes engines and performs diversified preventive maintenance of Village vehicles and equipment. Performs manufacturer recommended maintenance. Checks and maintains fluid levels. Greases and oils vehicles and equipment. Repairs and/or adjusts brake, steering and suspension, drive train and differential systems. Replaces clutches, adjusts linkages, inspects, and repairs transmissions, universal joints, and differentials. Repairs or replaces various electrical systems in wiring as necessary including motors, generators, starters, lights, and ignition systems. Prepares service records of preventive maintenance, repair, and other activities as required. Reviews condition of vehicles with operating departments and discusses the need for major repairs or replacements. Performs oxyacetylene and electric welding in forming, bending, and tempering steel. Cuts, grinds, and welds metal to fit requirements of repair demands. Responds to emergency service calls for Village owned vehicles and equipment. Starts and/or tows vehicles from the field or street. Delivers vehicles to garage for scheduled maintenance.

Overhauls or replaces carburetors, blowers, generators, starters, and pumps. Follows all safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Reports all unsafe conditions and acts to supervisor. Reports all accidents to the supervisor immediately whenever possible, but no later than end of the employee's work shift. Follows recognized safe work practices. Ability to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Performs other duties as requested or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION &/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or trade school certified; and five (5) years journeyman experience in vehicle maintenance and repair; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Automotive Service Excellence (A. S. E.) certification preferred but not required.

Requires possession of a valid Illinois commercial driver’s license (CDL) class A vehicle license with an Air Brake endorsement or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire via in house training.

JOB SUMMARY: The Clarendon Hills Park District is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of "Park Maintenance Laborer".

The Park Maintenance Laborer is responsible, for performing a variety of park and facility duties, including maintenance and repair of the district’s parks and facilities and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Mowing of all turf grass and trim mowing • Maintain athletic fields, courts, playgrounds, buildings and facilities • Perform all janitorial duties in buildings and facilities • Remove garbage in all parks and facilities • Operate and care for vehicles and equipment • Organize necessary records and follow written and verbal instruction • Assist with planting & maintaining flower beds, trees, plants, and shrubs

This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week.

September 1 - March 31 Hours are 7:00am – 3:30pm Monday thru Friday

April 1 - August 31 Hours are 7:00am – 3:30pm Tuesday thru Saturday

Weekends, evening, holidays, and special events work will be required as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate with at least two years minimum experience in parks and facility maintenance. Candidate must also have a valid Illinois driver’s license.

Superintendent of Golf Maintenance

 
SALARY RANGE
: $75,000-90,000 based on experience, with generous benefits package including medical (PPO or HMO), dental, vision, life insurance, and IMRF pension

POSITION FOCUS: Responsible for administration of the maintenance, repair, development and construction of the grounds of the Tam Golf Course

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Executive Director and supervises the part-time and seasonal golf maintenance staff

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:  
  • Manage the operations of Tam Golf Course and oversee the maintenance staff.
  • Supervise the mowing, watering and maintenance of tees, green, fairways, and related areas.
  • Direct the planting, fertilizing and maintenance of turf at Tam Golf Course.
  •  Inspect turf areas daily for fungus, insects and undesirable vegetation.
  • Supervise the maintenance and repair of construction maintenance equipment, golf cart fleet, and parks equipment.
  • Supervise irrigation management of golf course and park systems.
  • Work with the Golf Operations Supervisors on a daily basis to prevent maintenance interference with play.
  • Develop budget requirements for golf club maintenance operations.
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate maintenance staff.
  • Prepare board summaries, monthly reports.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS
  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in agronomy/horticulture/plant/soil science, or turf grass management preferred, or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training
  • Valid Illinois Pesticide Public Applicator License to be earned within the first 3 months of employment
  • Knowledge of construction and maintenance of golf course tees, fairways and greens, turf maintenance
