Park Specialist – Athletic Fields (Full-Time, Hourly)

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for identifying, planning, leading, supervising, and carrying out a wide variety of athletic field maintenance related projects, irrigation maintenance and seasonal duties as assigned. Oversees crew members and trains them to carry out duties and tasks assigned including proper use of any specialized equipment, tools or supplies as required.
JOB DUTIES
- Knowledge of layout/lining of athletic fields, chalking foul lines and batter’s boxes, setting of bases at proper lengths, rebuilding of pitcher’s mounds and supervises others in this activity
- Maintain athletic field fences, dugouts, goals, infields, bases and nets
- Maintain athletic field turf including seeding, topdressing, aerification, fertilizing and spraying applications of herbicides and insecticides as needed
- Maintain all tools, equipment, machinery and irrigation systems as necessary
- Assist in off-season maintenance of athletic field equipment
- Snow removal/ice rink maintenance
- Identify and repair or report any failures or hazards
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years of age with a valid IL driver’s license. High school diploma or equivalent required. At least five (5) years of relevant experience required. Ability to obtain State of Illinois Pesticide license. Professional certification(s) and/or active membership in a professional association desirable.
PAY & SCHEDULING
This is a full-time position working Sunday-Thursday from 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Additional hours required for overtime, special events and emergencies. Schedule has potential to change based on seasonal demands. The target hiring range is $30.21-$33.66/hour, dependent on qualifications.
