Established in 1935, the CCFPD is charged with the stewardship of seven unique forest preserves covering almost 4,000 acres. Our mission is to protect the natural and cultural resources of Champaign County while inspiring people to care for, enjoy, and explore their natural world. With nearly 40 miles of hiking trails, ample fishing and boating opportunities, Audubon-certified golf course, popular campground, Illinois’ first Dark Sky Park (Middle Fork River Forest Preserve), beautifully serene botanical gardens, ADA-accessible fishing dock and kayak launch, interpretive center that provides some of the highest-quality environmental education in our community, and the award-winning Museum of the Grand Prairie, the District accommodates a wide variety of interests and continuously seeks to provide new, meaningful opportunities for the people we serve.

About the Position:

The Homer Lake Site Superintendent is responsible for managing site operations, groundskeeping, and facility maintenance for the Homer Lake Forest Preserve. This is an exempt role with starting pay of $62,500/year plus a full benefits package (health, dental, vision, life, short- and long-term disability, identify theft protection, IMRF pension plan, 457(b) deferred compensation plan, 12 paid holidays, paid sick and vacation time, and more).
