Special Olympics Coordinator

Description:

Classification: Part-time

Responsible for planning, supervising, and organizing Special Olympics athletes, practice and game schedules and coaches and volunteers. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to overseeing a variety of Special Olympics sports and completing related paperwork and working in the SRA office on a part-time basis performing general office duties relating to our participants. This person must have an interest in sports and some previous coaching experience is preferred but not required.

Position Qualifications:

Must demonstrate knowledge of disabilities and have experience with various disabilities in therapeutic recreation, community recreation or related fields.

Must have good organizational skills and demonstrate the ability to work independently.

Ability to engage in activities requiring physical exertion.

Successful completion of a criminal background check and completion of training requirements for Special Olympics Illinois.

Must have a valid Illinois Driver's License and be willing to drive a 14 passenger bus and participate in a random drug/alcohol pool.
