Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation preferred, related fields considered. Ability to develop recreational activities for individuals with disabilities. Skilled group dynamics necessary to work with a diverse group of people both internally and externally. Must be an excellent communicator and leader. Computer and writing skills are essential. CPRP or CTRS must be obtained within the first year of employment. First Aid, CPR required or attained upon hiring. Valid Illinois Driver’s License Required. Strong swim skills and the ability to teach basic group swim lessons are desirable. Lifeguard certification/or ability to speak Spanish are a plus.
Summary: Plan, implement and evaluate year round recreation programs and budgets for assigned programs. Develop and maintain relationships with families, member districts and service organizations and collaborators. Supervise and lead programs, special events and overnight trips. Complete training to drive agency vehicles. Work schedule will include evening and Saturday hours. Active participation in strategic planning and overall agency development.
