The Park District has over 25 parks and facilities including the Deerfield Golf Club, Sachs Recreation Center, Patty Turner Center, Jewett Park Community Center, Mitchell Pool and Deerspring Pool. The Park District employs an average of 300 staff with over 500 seasonally. What is the opportunity?    
Our Parks Foreman is an integral position within the Parks Team at the Deerfield Park District.  It allows you to showcase your trades and maintenance skills, along with leading projects and staff along with assisting in the organization of daily work assignments.  
 
Overview of Key Responsibilities   
The Parks Foreman has wide variety of essential duties including but not limited to:  
**Performs semi-skilled carpentry, painting, dry-wall, plumbing, electrical, welding, concrete and other related maintenance skills.  
**Skillful and safe operation of vehicles, equipment and tools such as tractors, riding mowers, skid steer, backhoe, woodchipper, chain saws, landscape equipment, power tools, etc.   
** Installation, inspection, repairs, painting and maintenance of playgrounds and equipment.  
**Installation, maintenance and repair of fencing, signage and athletic equipment such as tennis and volleyball nets and posts, basketball and soccer goals, etc.  
**General building maintenance such as cleaning, painting, repairing roofs, soffits, siding, decks, doors, windows, etc.  
**General maintenance of parks, landscaping, buildings, playgrounds and athletic fields.  
**Maintenance and repair of hard surface courts, pathways, sidewalks, trails and parking lots.  

Marginal Functions     
**Turf maintenance such as: mowing, trimming, fertilizing, aerating, irrigation, overseeding, installation of sod and establishment of new turf.  
**Application of chemical controls, including pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicides, fungicides and insecticides.  
 
What qualifications are needed?   
**High School Diploma plus specialized training (classes, seminars) in park management, sports turf management, horticulture, arbor culture, carpentry or general construction experience.  
**Ability to obtain and maintain Certified Playground Safety Inspector and Chain Saw certifications.  
**Ability to obtain and maintain an Illinois Dept. of Agriculture Pesticide Operator’s License.  
**Valid driver’s license required; CDL license preferred.  

Scheduling, pay and benefits  
Full-Time, Non-Exempt Position.   

Hours are M – F, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Due to the nature of this position it is sometimes necessary to amend work hours to include evenings or additional days during the week.
