The Norridge Park District is seeking a Superintendent of Parks to lead the administration, development, maintenance and revitalization of our parks and facilities. Responsibilities range from hands on work in the department to developing and leading capital improvement projects.
The Norridge Park District serves the Village of Norridge and portions of Harwood Heights, approximately 16,300 residents. The district is a vital agency to the community's residents and surrounding adjacent area, offering open park space, facilities, programs, special events and more. Facilities and amenities include an outdoor aquatic facility, five ball fields, outdoor tennis/basketball/in-line hockey courts, recreation center, playgrounds, dance studio, rental spaces, early childhood program and much more.
The district has many capital projects you will be a part of on day one. Construction is currently underway on the district's $9.5 million aquatic facility project with an anticipated summer 2024 opening. In addition, the outdoor court renovation and indoor basketball court projects, and interior community center improvements are scheduled for early spring.

The Superintendent of Parks reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Recreation, Early Care / Preschool, and Finance/HR department heads to provide facilities and experiences for the community to enjoy. Our ideal candidate will have three to five years of progressive experience in a public parks department setting, thorough knowledge of the philosophy of park and recreation management and ability to communicate this to others, and knowledge of both fiscal and personnel management and supervision. Must have the ability to plan and organize a complete park maintenance program including buildings, ADA knowledge, facilities, grounds, and strong knowledge and experience with aquatic facility maintenance. Experience in project management, the construction of parks and recreation facilities, and ability to operate mowers, trucks, and other equipment needed to perform responsibilities of the department is important. Ability to manage, motivate, supervise, and direct staff through a positive working environment is necessary.
