The Village of Deerfield, Illinois (Pop. 19,196) seeks applicants for the full-time position of Senior Accountant following a retirement scheduled in June.
Under general direction of the Director of Finance or designee, the Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining accounts payable, general and subsidiary ledgers, preparing balance sheets, financial statements, reconciling bank statements, tracking investments and coordinating month end closing procedures. The Senior Accountant manages the annual audit process, including coordination of third-party reports required for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. The Senior Accountant is also involved in budget preparation and monitoring throughout the year.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or related field and hold a CPA or CPFO certification. 2-3 years of related experience in finance and/or accounting is required. Familiarity with governmental accounting and Tyler Munis financial software is preferred.
The hiring range for this position is $99,057 – $116,538 depending on qualifications and experience (2024 Salary Range: $99,057 – $128,192). An excellent benefit package includes the following: IMRF Pension, BCBS Health, Delta Dental, VSP Vision, employer paid life insurance, flexible schedule opportunities, annual accruals of five personal days, two weeks of vacation time, two weeks of sick time, parental leave, tuition reimbursement after one year of employment and more. Hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
