The City of Aurora is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Golf Maintenance Manager for the Division of Phillips Park Golf Course.

Under the direction of the Superintendent of Parks & Recreation or designee, supervises maintenance workers, and seasonal workers that perform a variety of manual, semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the general maintenance and upkeep of the City golf courses and adjacent areas.

The duties of this position include but are not limited to: Supervises maintenance workers and seasonal help on a daily basis, coordinating their activities in the upkeep and maintenance of City golf course(s); Assists Superintendent in the development and implementations of projects pertaining to the City golf course(s); Keeps daily records on employee attendance and the number of job assignments completed by each employee. Makes recommendations as to equipment, parts, materials and supply purchases and or replacements; Supervises maintenance workers and seasonal help on a daily basis, coordinating their activities in the upkeep and maintenance of City golf course(s); Assists Superintendent in the development and implementations of projects pertaining to the City golf course(s); Keeps daily records on employee attendance and the number of job assignments completed by each employee; Makes recommendations as to equipment, parts, materials and supply purchases and or replacements; Acts as construction manager for any golf course reconstruction, repairs, and/or renovations; Plans and carries out a turf, ground, and facility maintenance program for the golf course(s); Oversees the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the Golf courses; Works closely with applicable staff for course setups during tournaments, outings, and other special events as needed; During winter season, assists in the oversight and management of snow operations for the Parks department; Performs other duties assigned as related to the position.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in turf grass or related field with two years related work experience or an Associate’s degree in turf grass or related field with four years related work experience. Requires eight years work experience in golf course maintenance or related field. Requires one year of supervisory experience. Requires a license in pesticide application by the State of Illinois. Requires a valid driver’s license. Bilingual Spanish/English desired. Requires Certified Golf Course management certification required, or ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire. Requires Certified Sports Turf Manager (CSTM) preferred.

Must successfully pass pre-hire requirements including but not limited to a physical, drug screen, and background check. 

This is a full-time, executive position. Starting hourly pay is $44.73 ($93,038.40 annually). Excellent benefit package.
