 Job Title: Maintenance 
Calendar Work Days: 12 Months Supervisor: 
Site Manager/Director of Buildings and Grounds 
Status: Non Exempt - SEIU POSITION 
SUMMARY: To help ensure maintenance of school buildings are in excellent condition so that buildings may be used at all times. In addition to providing a safe, secure, and clean educational environment. 

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE - KNOWLEDGE:
● High school diploma or equivalent required
● Minimum two year maintenance or applicable work experience 
● Experience in industrial or school environments preferred with a working knowledge of plumbing, electrical repair, building systems and computer-controlled systems preferred.
● Ability to read and understand technical direction, procedures, safety manuals, etc. 
● Ability to communicate in English (speak/read/write) 
● Ability to operate and use materials and equipment in a safe manner 
● Ability to set work priorities, multi-task and work independently, and use time management and organization strategies well. 
● Presents a professional image and interacts professionally with faculty, staff, students and community 
● Valid drivers license may be required 

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The tasks listed below are representative of the essential performance responsibilities. Tasks assigned to individuals will vary based on department needs and it is possible not all duties will be performed in any given year. However individuals must be able to perform the following duties, with or without reasonable accommodation, as assigned by their supervisor. 
● Maintain school buildings on a regular basis for needed repairs and emergency problems 
● Performs a variety of plumbing, electrical, ceiling and flooring repairs and maintenance
● Assist in estimating the cost of repairs in terms of labor, material and overhead as requested 
● Inspect district-owned facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventative maintenance
● Responsible for building checks such as checking heating, building security of windows and doors. Also, will observe conditions of facility, boilers and refrigeration 
● Responsible for maintenance of tools and equipment to ensure safe, clean and efficient operation. July 2022 
● Perform repairs and general maintenance on building construction, general building repair, hardware, concrete, carpentry and special assignments as needed 
● Recommends purchase of suitable supplies, tools and equipment for projects. Also, maintains inventory of all supplies, tools and equipment used for projects. 
● Maintains a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency when performing all maintenance and repair work.
 ● Frequently will be involved in the set up and clean up of various events taking place on the school grounds including but not limited to ,moving wrestling mats, setting up gymnastic events, moving bleachers, risers and stairs, setting up sound systems and tables and chairs. 
● Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and see, talk and hear. The employee must be able to be on his/her feet for the full shift. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must be able to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds on occasion and 35 pounds regularly. The employee must be able to push/pull items of a variety of weights, shapes, and sizes. The employee must be able to climb stairs and be on ladders up to six feet regularly and be able to get into the ceiling. Must be able to work at heights up to 35 feet. The employee must be able to work in confined areas. The employee must be able to position themselves to be able to reach and work on maintenance related work. The employee must be able to work with a variety of cleaning chemicals and other substances. The employee may be required to use computers and other office equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, such as to read type or hand written material. The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet but can also be that of a high school and can be loud when in places like gyms and cafeterias. The employee may need to work outside in a variety of weather situations including extreme cold and heat. The employee is continuously interacting with students and staff.
