POSITION FOCUS
Under the general direction of the Trades Manger, the Trades Maintenance 1 is responsible for performance of construction, maintenance and repair activities to Park District owned assets to meet the department goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Under the general direction of the Trades Manger, the Trades Maintenance 1 is responsible for performance of construction, maintenance and repair activities to Park District owned assets to meet the department goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Directly responsible to the Trades Manager in carrying out park maintenance duties.
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance such as repairing roofs, doors, windows, cleaning, minor electrical and plumbing repairs, maintaining the heating system.
- Removal of snow from Park District sidewalks, pathways and drives.
- Basic knowledge of wiring, lighting, running pipe, fusing power installations (motors and pumps included) and service installation. Experience in the use of basic tools and test instruments in electrical work.
- Ability to install and repair all new and existing doors and hardware.
- Knowledge of construction of storage space, cabinets, and shelves as directed.
- Make minor repairs in all special facilities as directed.
- Perform both inside and outside construction work as assigned.
- Ability to work within confined spaces and the ability to perform non-entry rescue.
- Perform plumbing, HVAC, boiler repairs as assigned.
- Open, close and maintain swimming pools as assigned.
- Performs the job safely and in compliance with District policies, procedures, work and safety rules and personnel policies.
- Additional job duties as assigned, which may be considered essential.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING
- High school graduate/GED or equivalent with working experience in the construction and maintenance trades.
- Ability to obtain Pool Operator Certification.
- Ability to obtain Valid Illinois Class “B” Driver’s License within one year.
- Attain (within six (6) months of employment) and maintain valid Adult & Child CPR/AED certification.
