Under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Recreation, the Aquatics Manager is responsible for management of DragonLand Water Park during the summer season and year-round swim lesson program, supervision of staff of the concessions stands at Pekin Park Sports Complex and supervision of assigned part-time staff at Veterans Memorial Arena ice rink facility during winter months.
Schedules, supervises and evaluates all DragonLand staff in a manner that insures proper management of facility programs, concessions, cashier operations, and facility maintenance procedures. Responsible for recruiting, training, certifying and supervision of lifeguards and swim lesson instructors. Develops and implements new ideas and techniques pertaining to the proper management of DragonLand’s operations. Responsible for the management of the swim lesson program held at the local high school pool in the fall and spring and DragonLand during the summer. Responsible for the daily supervision of assigned Veterans Memorial Arena part-time staff job performance in facility programs, facility admissions, public skate sessions during the fall and winter months. Responsible for the daily supervision of the Part-Time Concessions Manager, concessions staff at DragonLand Water Park, Pekin Park Sports Complex, and Veterans Memorial Arena, and the overall concessions operations. Suggests new ideas and techniques for improvement of these operations.
Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Sport Management, or closely related field. Although a degree is preferred, extensive experience in a like position with similar duties and responsibilities may be substituted for all or part of the education requirement. Ellis and Associates International Lifeguard Training Program Certified Lifeguard Instructor Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment is required. Two – four years supervisory experience in the field of Recreation Administration, Sport Management, Aquatics or related field preferred.
