About the Role

The Superintendent of Recreation is a key leadership role responsible for the planning, development, and management of recreational services, ensuring high-quality programs that meet the needs of the community. This position oversees staff, manages budgets, recreational facilities, and collaborates with community partners to enhance recreational opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a variety of recreational programs, events, and services.
  • Oversee operations and maintenance of recreation facilities, ensuring safe and enjoyable experiences for the public.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise recreation staff, program coordinators, and seasonal employees.
  • Develop and manage program budgets, track expenses, and seek funding opportunities such as grants and sponsorships.
  • Collaborate with schools, businesses, and community organizations to expand programming.
  • Work with a team to promote recreational activities through marketing efforts, social media, and public outreach.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and district policies.
What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Parks & Leisure Services, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in recreation management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing staff, budgets, and recreational facilities.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) within six months of hire.
  • CPRP (Certified Park and Recreation Professional) certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and recreation management software.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
