Job Purpose:
The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our buildings, parks, and equipment. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the park standards to provide safe, clean, and attractive grounds for all Park District users.
Key Responsibilities:
- Landscape Maintenance: Mow and trim landscapes, operate zero-turn mowers and handheld landscape equipment such as blowers, string trimmers, and edgers.
- Athletic Field Maintenance: Aerate, mow, remove weeds, and perform infield maintenance and top dressing.
- Park Cleanliness: Remove trash and debris from parks and facilities.
- Playground Maintenance: Inspect, repair, and maintain playground equipment.
- Seasonal Maintenance: Winterize and prepare grounds and facilities for spring.
- Snow and Debris Removal: Clear snow and debris from parks and facilities.
- Field Preparation: Set up fields for various outdoor sports such as soccer and baseball.
- Equipment Maintenance: Repair and install parts on various equipment, load/unload daily equipment, and maintain records of maintenance.
- Building and Facility Maintenance: Perform preventive maintenance on buildings, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, paint, and plaster.
- Vehicle and Equipment Management: Transport equipment and personnel in District vehicles, perform vehicle checks, and ensure proper maintenance.
- Staff Supervision: Assist in training and cooperating with seasonal workers.
