JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction and supervision of Operations Leadership the Facilities & Trades Technician is responsible for completing various repairs and maintenance at all facilities as assigned and acting as the contact for emergency situations that affect the District facilities ability to open for business. Additionally, the Facilities Technician will assess and consider daily 1) the safety of our employees and participants, 2) the security of our assets and 3) the service to our customers. The employee shall collaborate with all departments within the District including Recreation, IT, Finance, and Planning. This is an at-will position.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and reliable, with good mechanical knowledge and instinct to troubleshoot and fix things. Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED required. An associate degree or trade school certificate is highly desired. Prior facility maintenance related experience preferred in at least three trades (carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, masonry, painting, fabrication) with familiarity with various hand and power tools. A valid IL Driver’s license is required, a CDL or the ability to obtain within six months of hire. A Certified Pool Operator (CPO) license or ability to obtain in 6 months. Good communication skills required with the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Must be in good physical condition to perform a variety of manual tasks in various weather conditions including high heat and humidity. Will be required to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen. Must also be able to work flexible hours with overtime during prime seasons.
