Superintendent of Parks and Facilities
The Sugar Grove Park District is looking for an experienced park and facility maintenance professional. This opportunity will provide challenging and fulfilling career experience. Sugar Grove is a community located in the west suburbs on the edge of Rural America.
The Superintendent of Parks assists the Executive Director in planning and supervising District Operations and is directly responsible for Park and Facility maintenance duties that occur both in the office and in the field. This includes all aspects of District properties including; equipment maintenance, equipment operation, equipment safety training, shop management, ordering, preventative maintenance schedules, record keeping, and expense management.
The Superintendent also acts as the Safety Coordinator for the District. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for the creation and administration of safety policies and procedures to protect the health and well-being of Park District staff and visitors.
Qualifications
Required:
1. A minimum of five years’ full-time experience in facility maintenance, management of staff, and project management.
2. B.A. or B.S. degree OR comparable years of experience in Facility Maintenance, Park Management, Landscape Management, Recreation Administration, Park Administration, Forestry Management, Landscape Design or a related field.
3. Candidate must possess a valid Illinois class “D” driver’s license.
Preferred:
- Seven to ten years of full-time experience in facility maintenance, management of staff and project management.
- Currently or previously held the title of Certified Playground Safety Inspector.
- A minimum of three years of experience working in an Illinois Park District.
Qualified candidates should expect a salary between $65,000 and $75,000 per year.
Includes Health, Vision, Dental, IMRF retirement, and time off benefits. This is a full-time (minimum 35 hours per week), position.
