Parks Maintenance Seasonal


Job Summary: 

Under the general day-to-day supervision of the Parks Director maintains the Village Park grounds, Athletic Fields and supports Village events.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Operates various types of light, and complex equipment used in the maintenance of the Village’s properties, facilities, parks, etc.    
  • Maintains turf areas including mowing and trimming. 
  • Communicates effectively with all internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Ensures that standards and time frames are adhered to. 
  • Adheres to safety protocols. 
  • Resolves resident complaints or directs them to Deputy Director 
  • Complies with the Village’s Drug Testing Program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of tools and equipment used in the maintenance and construction of Village property, facilities, and parks. 
  • OSHA safety requirements and standards.
  • Significant responsibility for the care, condition, and use of mechanical materials, equipment, tools, etc. 
  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools and equipment including all department trucks, snow removal and de-icing equipment, and mowers.  
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. 
 Minimum Requirements:  

  • High School diploma or equivalent. 
  • Related experience preferred.
Pay rate is $18.00 per hour for approximately 40 hours per week.

: Tasks require the ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, toxic agents, disease, or pathogenic substances.
