Marketing Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:       
The Marketing Specialist is responsible for leading the development, management, and implementation of the District’s website, social media platforms, sponsorship program, print and digital marketing materials, and the District’s photo library. The role provides strategic guidance on communication and advertising strategies that support organizational goals, values, and long-term vision.  
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS               
·          Lead, plan, and evaluate all marketing and advertising initiatives that support the District’s objectives.
·         Responsible for content development across digital, print, social media, and promotional platforms. 
·         Creates and maintains the annual Marketing Plan and Budget, in collaboration with the Director of Recreation.
·         Attend special events and programs as the District’s photographer and videographer.
·         Responsible for the development and production of the seasonal program brochures from conception through distribution.
·         Manage the District website by updating content, site features, and ensuring state and federal compliance and accessibility.
·         Develop social media content across all District platforms.
·         Maintain and monitor social media sites and respond accordingly to inquiries.
·         Collaborate with departments and staff to support promotions, initiatives, and community outreach. 
·         Coordinate and distribute press releases to assigned media outlets.
·         Create community and program surveys, in collaboration with department heads and staff.
·         Manage the District’s survey platform. 
·         Coordinates District’s sponsorships and advertising program.
·         Collaborate with administrative team on long-term strategic planning related to brand, communications, and public engagement. 
·         Track performance metrics and prepares reports to evaluate outcomes and inform decision making on marketing and advertising initiatives and campaigns. 
·             Prepares and/ or directs the preparation of board summaries, monthly, quarterly and periodic special reports, as required by the Director of Recreation.
·             Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders. 
·             Represent the District at community events and meetings, as appropriate.
·             Seeks, interprets, and implements input from the public.
·             Maintains required records.
·             Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Recreation and Executive Director. 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
·         Demonstrated knowledge of principles, methods, and platforms used in digital and print marketing, advertising, graphic design, and social media. 
·         Working knowledge of CMS software, such as WordPress
·         Experience managing social media accounts and creating engaging posts
·         Photography and videography production skills preferred
·         Excellent written and oral communication skills
·         Proficient in Microsoft Office
·         Experience utilizing Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop preferred
·         Ability to lead strategic planning efforts while effectively managing complex projects and priorities
·         Ability to analyze and evaluate marketing and advertising data to measure efficiency, return on investment, and engagement.
·         Strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills
·         Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects efficiently. 
·         Valid Illinois Driver’s License 
 
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES
·         First Aid/CPR/AED certification required within 120 days of hire.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
·         Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, digital arts, advertising, marketing or related field, preferred. 
·         Two (2) to three (3) years’ experience overseeing marketing and advertising campaigns, social media management, or graphic design. 
·         Equivalent combinations of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
