Tradesworker - Ice
Glenview Community Ice Center, an 84,526 sq. ft. facility, is an award-winning facility with a large-scale renovation completed in September of 2020. The facility operates two NHL sheets of ice, one studio sheet, dryland training room, community rooms, restaurant services, pro shop services and more.
JOB SUMMARY
The Tradesworker GCIC is responsible for performing skilled building trades work related to the maintenance and operation of the Glenview Community Ice Center. This position performs preventative maintenance, facility inspections, ice resurfacing and monitoring building mechanical systems. Work may include basic intermediate electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, HVAC, and mechanical maintenance, as well as coordination with specialized contractors when needed. The Tradesworker GCIC is responsible to perform the following essential functions including, but not limited to:
- Performs regular, comprehensive building inspections, including ice surfaces, structures, doors, windows, roofs, gutters, walls, floors, ceilings, stairs, railings, storage areas, signage, fireplaces, electrical, lighting, plumbing, HVAC systems, carpentry, masonry, sidewalks, and driveways.
- Develops preliminary analysis of job requirements for supplies, tools, number of laborers, equipment and time to perform various tasks.
- Makes recommendations for improvements and efficiencies.
- Provides customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Conducts work in a safe manner, wears protective equipment as required, and reports any issues concerning safety in a timely manner, including preparing accident & incident reports as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have at least five (5) years of relevant experience in one or more of the building trades or related field. An Associate’s Degree is strongly preferred, significant experience in lieu of formal education will be considered. A valid Illinois driver’s license is required. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
SCHEDULING & PAY
This is a full-time, non-exempt position working Monday-Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM. Some nights and weekends may be required due to special events or staffing needs. The anticipated hiring range for this position is $34.98 - $38.92 per hour commensurate with experience. The full pay range for this position is $33.99 - $50.72 per hour.
