Seasonal Park Attendant
The Village of Willowbrook is seeking candidates for a Seasonal Park Attendant position within the Village’s Parks & Recreation and Public Works Department. This is a part-time position that performs activities as they relate to the operations of the Parks & Recreation and Public Works Department.
The Seasonal Park Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of park facilities and grounds. Duties include routine park inspections, restroom cleaning and stocking, litter collection, monitoring park activities, and assisting with general maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, and enjoys working outdoors in a customer-service-oriented environment.
Essential Functions/Duties
• Conduct routine inspections of park grounds, facilities, and amenities.
• Clean, sanitize, and restock public restrooms daily.
• Collect litter and empty trash receptacles throughout parks and recreational areas.
• Monitor parks for safety concerns, vandalism, rule violations, and maintenance needs.
• Report facility damage, hazards, suspicious activity, and maintenance issues to supervisors.
• Perform light grounds maintenance, including weed removal, sweeping, and cleaning picnic shelters and playground areas.
• Assist with setup and cleanup of community events, park programs, and facility rentals.
• Interact courteously with park visitors and provide general information regarding park rules and amenities.
• Ensure parks are opened and secured according to established schedules, when assigned.
• Operate basic maintenance equipment and tools safely.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Ability to interact professionally with the public.
• Prior experience in grounds maintenance, custodial work, or parks operations is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements & Work Schedule
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, and carrying.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to operate basic maintenance and cleaning equipment safely.
• Flexible schedule including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Hours may vary based on park usage, weather conditions, and seasonal needs.
