The Recreation Supervisor will have the opportunity to oversee a diverse mix of general recreation, special recreation, community events, adult trips, outdoor recreation, and youth and adult programming. The position also plays an important role in providing inclusive recreation opportunities for individuals with disabilities and supporting Special Olympics programs and events.

What You'll Do:
As Recreation Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to:
- Plan, organize, and implement a broad range of recreation programs, activities, and special events, including adult trips, special recreation, outdoor recreation, youth and adult programs.
- Develop new and innovative programs and events based on community interests, participation trends, and emerging recreational opportunities.
- Oversee recreation opportunities for individuals with disabilities, including special recreation programs and social events.
- Assist with Special Olympics programs, practices, competitions, and events as needed.
- Provide inclusion support and reasonable modifications for equal access to District programs.
- Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate volunteers, part-time and seasonal employees.
- Plan and manage community and special events in collaboration with local organizations, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and other community partners.
- Work closely with the Communications and Marketing Manager to creatively promote Park District programs and events.
- Build positive relationships with participants, families, organizations, and partner agencies.
- Assist participants and families with registration, accommodation, and inclusion needs.
- Develop program budgets and monitor revenues and expenditures to ensure programs operate within approved budgets.
- Maintain accurate participant, medical, registration, attendance, and program records.
- Evaluate programs using participant feedback, registration trends, and financial performance.
- Represent the Park District on the Northlands Association of Special Recreation (NASR) Council.
- Prepare reports, budgets, program evaluations, and other administrative materials as required.
What We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about recreation, comfortable working with a wide variety of people, and ready to bring creativity to the position.
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation and Parks Administration, Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Management, or a related field.
- Recreation programming experience is preferred. Experience may include special events, athletics, aquatics, outdoor recreation, special recreation, or facility management.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple programs and projects while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while also being an effective member of a collaborative team.
- Valid driver's license.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification upon employment.
Preferred Certifications:
- Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP)
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
