McHenry County Conservation District is looking for a results-driven Social Media Specialist to plan and execute our digital marketing strategy, develop intriguing social media content, and program all social media streams. This position works closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications and is responsible for the coordination of digital promotional campaigns, targeted messaging, and optimizing relevant content about the sites, programs, events and mission of the District― across varied social media platforms to build traffic, create awareness, educate and engage our county residents.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Job responsibilities include:
• Assist in the development of the District’s overall social media marketing strategy. • Integrate the use of existing and new social media marketing strategies to promote the programs, events and mission of McHenry County Conservation District, as well as attract new audiences and build customer base. • Implements online public information and marketing initiatives, including search engine optimization, paid search placement, email marketing and other online communication activities. • Generate, coordinate, maintain timely and relevant content for all social media platforms not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+, etc. posts, promoting events, but also the mission and vision of the District, as well as opportunities for the creation of a digital newsletter, District blog and other engagement tools. • Utilize District’s Active Net Recreation Management Software to promote programs and activities. • Produce videos and infomercials for the various social media platforms. • Seek diverse avenues on the web to promote District’s events and programs on other page listings; i.e. PlanIt Northwest; Oaklies Family Guide; Chicago Wilderness event listings; etc. • Monitor social media activities, trends and promotional campaign results; deliver insights to drive continuous improvement and reinvestment strategies; measure overall content effectiveness to promote and optimize content that resonates with target audiences. • Leverage web and social analytics tools to develop reports and provide insights and recommendations for program improvements. • Coordinate with different District departments to create digital marketing content, contests or educational enhancements. • Produce regular reports summarizing internet, marketing and social media efforts, translating this data into recommendations that can be implemented across to maximize opportunities, attendance, and increased visitors. • Assistance at occasional weekend and evening hours may be required to cover special events or programs. • Assists with the production of commercial photography and oversees videography. • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications for this position include, but not limited to: • Bachelor's degree (B. A./ B.S.) from four-year college or university with major course work in communications, marketing, advertising, or related field with at least two years related experience and/or training in Digital Marketing; with strong competency and experience with using multiple social media platforms, personally and professionally including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, etc. • Knowledge of marketing, advertising, and promotional techniques. • Strong Working Knowledge of social media messaging, monitoring, and marketing applications, as well as experience of how it applies in a business/organization setting. • Experience analyzing data, identifying trends, summarizing results and making recommendations based on findings. • Experience working across an organization and creating relationship with relevant team members to set priorities for social media and website initiatives. • Some knowledge of environmental issues and the natural sciences. • Proficient in taking digital photographs and creating videos.
